Alice's Baptism

Last weekend, along with 3 other children, Alice was baptized at St. Joseph Church.  We were fortunate enough to have the same Deacon, Deacon Dan, baptize Alice as well as Marie. Deacon Dan told us that Alice was his 98th child he's baptized.  (If only she was #100, maybe we would have won a prize...oh well.)  Uncle Eric and Aunt Lisa were Alice's Godparents and luckily, Alice didn't cry when the water was poured on her head. In church, everyone was on their best behavior*.  Marie was with PawPaw and the Kiser boys, while Adam & Madelyn were with Meemaw.   It should be noted that PawPaw played the "quarter behind the ear" trick on Adam before the baptism started.  Adam kept checking his ear for more quarters (didn't find any) and held onto his quarter until all of the children in the congregation were invited to the baptismal font...then guess where the quarter went?  Yep, right into the baptismal font.  I'm not sure who, but someone dug it out before anyone was baptized or before Deacon Dan spotted it.  Anyway, we had a wonderful time at the ceremony and an even nicer time back at Alice's house for lunch.  Thanks to all who came and shared in her special day!  Thanks also to Nanny for being the photographer!

Not a peep was heard out of Marie...thanks for keeping her occupied guys!

The quarter...oh, Adam!

She squirmed a little, but no tears.  Alice, not Aunt Lisa.

Daddy's side of the family...

...And Mommy's side.

Classic stare down with GG.

*Ok, not everyone was on their best behavior.  Any guesses on who was a "stinker" during the baptism?  Alice.  Yep, the guest of honor herself.  Not sure if you've heard, but our little lady needs a dose of prune juice every once in a while to get things "moving".  She's been going #2 about every 4-5 days, and when she goes, look out.  Sorry to be graphic, but it's 4-5 days worth of nasty stuff.  Well, her baptism day was apparently the end of her 4-5 day no pooping streak. And not only was the baptism day the time to go, it was at the beginning of the 1 hour ceremony that she decided to go.  There she was, red-faced and filling up her diaper as I held her in the 37 year old heirloom baptismal gown.  It stunk.  Bad.  I thought for sure Deacon Dan was going to say something.  Luckily he didn't and no one passed out...and the gown wasn't ruined :)

The "unofficial" picture with her Godparents.  STINKY!!!

Our little ladies on their own baptism days...
Thanks to my Mom, who kept excellent care of my baptismal gown, both girls were able to wear the same gown that I was baptized in.
A special thanks to Alice's diaper for not failing so that future generations can be baptized in this same gown.
