Ever since we moved into our house (2 yrs ago last weekend), we knew we had to have work done to some of the walls in the bedrooms. The previous owners (a family with 6 kids!) did not take care of the walls and when the house was flipped/sold, they just patched the walls however they could and left it for the next owners (us) to repair. (Let me just say my 4 yr old nephew and 7 yr old niece could have done a better job, blindfolded.) We loved the house, so we knew it was something we could deal with down the road. Well, "down the road" is finally next week! Out extremely handy contractor friend (Virg, who also gutted the Nanny's bathroom and made it 100 times better!) is coming to make our walls pretty, frame some windows so the blinds fit correctly and most importantly turn our basement door around so it opens "out" rather than "in" to the basement. Now that Marie is able to reach doorknobs, God help us if he opens it and she falls...gives me the willies just thinking about it.

For this project to happen, we need to move everything out of 2 bedrooms for a week. And by everything, I also mean anyone pregnant who cannot be around dust or paint during their pregnancy. So this Mommy is headed out (picture an episode from Extreme Home Makeover, without annoying Ty Pennington, where the family goes on vacation, they come back and the house is totally made over!). This is where the "Babymoon w/Nanny" part of the post comes into play. Conveniently, the work at the house is being done while the Nanny and I are headed to St. Thomas for the week for her work trip. Now for those of you who are looking out for Chris, he was always planning to take this week off to have a Daddy/Daughter week with Marie, so having the work done at the same time is just perfect planning. He always looks forward to his week with Marie while the Nanny takes me away on an exotic trip (besides, she owes me after the many trips I took her on...Greece, Galapagos Islands, China, etc). Who knows, maybe Marie will convince Daddy to go "extreme-extreme" on the house and install crown moulding all over, purchase a king-size bed and new furniture for the master, finish the basement and throw in a pool in the backyard...afterall, she is Daddy's favorite, she knows how to get her way around him. More to come later about the work done to the house, as well as my vacation with the Nanny!
